This is "buyout music" in the broadest sense. You do not own it, but you can use it any way you want to as a video or film background. It may also be used as background for training and presentations, in web sites and as music-on-hold. You receive a 99 year non-exclusive license and no more performance rights logging or fees are required. When used in accessible media such as web sites, the files must be used in a format which does not allow downloading of the music. Wherever the music is used there must be a copyright statement which clearly protects the music if not the other content. We will include or mail a license agreement. If you return the agreement within 10 days after you receive it, the license will be effective as of the date we shipped the CD or you downloaded the file.
High quality samples of acoustic instruments are difficult and expensive to create, but easy to copy. It is possible that some of the music you listen to is produced with "pirate" samples. Some producers are watermarking their samples with inaudible code. If your music contains samples which can be traced back to an illegal copy, it could be embarrassing and expensive. Catovah Arts assures its customers that any sample used to produce our music was obtained from a legitimate dealer and thus is properly licensed.
Are old records in the public domain? Well, maybe. If you search the web for public domain music you will encounter sites which offer to sell you "public domain" recordings with statements like - all recordings distributed before February 1972 are in the public domain. Before risking a painful lawsuit, we recommend you visit the PDInfo Site for lots of good information on public domain music. All of our music is produced by us for use under our license.
Most of our music is from sources which are in the Public Domain in the USA. Because of variations in international copyright laws, it may not be usable in all countries. Our basic license is for use in the USA only. Many selections can be used throughout the World. However, some may be restricted by copyright law in one or more countries. Selections which we know or suspect have international copyright problems have "USA only" after the title. Selections which do not have this indication are probably OK in most countries, but we cannot guarantee it. To be sure, each selection must be evaluated under the copyright law of the country where it will be used. We can provide source information for your evaluation. We cannot assume responsibility for copyright problems in all countries.
The arrangements and performances are copyrighted by Catovah Arts.

All the clips in our library in .wav format on DVD, $100MP3 is a compressed format which is becoming very popular for downloaded music. MP3 quality is superior to the RealAudio samples here. The average listener will not be able to distinguish it from CD quality in background usage.
The quality of your sound card is important in reproducing the highest fidelity. We recommend disabling any special processing, such as Creative Labs Stereo Enhancement, which can distort the frequency equalization. Player characteristics are also important. The biggest problem is excessive bass boost. Most of the bass boost in the Winamp player can be removed with its graphic equalizer.
More information and free player downloads are available at this site. MP3 Player.
